Ben Nevis 16 Years Old [Single Cask / The Whisky Jury] - Distilled 06/2010 - Matured in a Refill Bourbon Barrel # - Bottled 07/2026 - 212 btl. - 49.8% abv.
Whilst 16 years is still a respectable age for this whisky, it is almost 10 years younger than every other Ben Nevis we’ve ever bottled. That doesn’t mean it’s any lower in quality!
You’ll notice the lower natural ABV (at least in relation to the age) which certainly shows well in this whisky. The extra oxidation that follows from it, accentuates the fruityness of the malt. It is also very creamy and balances orchard fruit and tropical notes quite well. The classic side of Ben Nevis shows up as well. It is truly unmistakeable, yet one of the best examples we’ve ever tasted of young Ben Nevis. We didn’t hesitate for a second after tasting.
