An Undisclosed Islay Distillery 18 Years Old - Crafted In Cask [Single Cask / Berry Bros & Rudd] Distilled 2007 - Bottled 2025 - Butt & Pedro Ximenez Cask Finish #10004 - 673 btl. - 56.0% abv.
Very occasionally Berry Bros & Rudd come across a cask of whisky that for various reasons we are unable to disclose the origins of, and whilst we would usually try to avoid this scenario, some casks are just too good to pass by. One such example is this robust peated malt from the Queen of the Hebrides.
TASTING NOTES:
Thick, brooding Pedro Ximénez richness greets the nose - dark hedgerow fruits, sticky raisins, and golden syrup - deepened by a savoury edge of cooked meat. The palate unfolds in layers: first, syrupy sweetness, then a wave of ashy coal embers rolling in. Roasted nutmeg adds warmth, while fleeting herbal notes offer a flicker of freshness before fading into the background. The finish is long and smouldering, where treacle, tobacco leaf, and glowing embers gently linger.
