Arguably the most intriguing whisky in the Diageo Special Releases 2025 is this single grain Scotch from Teaninich. In a distillery-first, it was created from rye, which, in combination with the unique mash filter and bourbon casks, has created quite a distinct and delicious whisky.

Nose
Green, herbal and spicy with an energetic prickle. Top notes are slightly sharp and reminiscent of sour boiled sweets, then become sweeter with hints of soft fudge. Over time, the green notes develop a more perfumed, woody character.

Palate
Light to medium-bodied with a creamy-smooth texture. Initially sweet with creamy vanilla and light acidity, followed by fresh herbaceous flavours. A dash of water softens the sweetness and brings forward more woody notes from the casks.

Finish
Quite short but spicy and incisive with a surprising sharp edge. A pinch of dried coconut lingers in the aftertaste, and a little water can enhance both sweetness and spice.

A bold, experimental 8-year-old single grain whisky from Teaninich’s Special Releases 2025, made from a rye-inflected mash and matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks. It’s non-chill filtered, natural colour, and bottled at cask strength for intense flavour.
