Smögen is a micro-sized malt whisky distillery and focuses on high quality and big character in small batches, with completely manual production and very hands-on monitoring. Although they will gladly use entirely local raw materials, the endeavor to do so will be subordinate to the quality and character aspects. Since 2020 using mainly Swedish heavily peated and floor malted barley for their spirit they are very happy about both character and quality.

Smögen Whisky AB, the owning company, was founded in the summer of 2009, on the Bohuslän west coast of Sweden, to offer malt whisky of big character and with clear coastal influences. The entire warehousing and bottling are all located on the farmstead of Ståleröd, just southeast of Hunnebostrand, to the North of Smögen island.
