Ondjaba Triple Grain - The Namibian Whiskey [Erongo Mountain Winery] Gravino Cask Finish - 46.0% abv.
Ondjaba Whiskey comes from Namibia and is made from a very special grain. One of the grains is mahangu (pearl millet), a staple food for much of the Namibian population. Unlike the traditional Scottish method of drying malt over peat, this malt is dried over elephant dung. Under the hot Namibian sun, the whiskey matures in fresh oak barrels as well as in the company’s own former wine barrels. This further development of the original whiskey is then aged in Gravino casks from the Erongo Mountain Winery, a type of port wine barrel.
Erongo Mountain Winery is located along the Omaruru River at 1,200 meters above sea level, surrounded by the stunning rugged mountains of the Erongo region. This pioneering and innovative boutique winery is a trailblazer in the Namibian wine industry, developing new methods to produce unique wines under extreme conditions. They create not only wines but also unparalleled liqueurs and sparkling wines made from local Namibian herbs and fruits.
