Nose: Manuka honey, toasted caramel, smoked cedarwood; hints of burnt orange peel and worn leather.
Palate: Heather honey, roasted hazelnuts, mocha, smouldering oak; finishing on dark chocolate and plum jam.
Finish: While intense, it is said to maintain the distillery’s “heather honey” sweet character rather than being just brutishly smokey. Master Distiller Billy Walker comments how Turbo balances boldness with

What sets it apart
High phenol / peat level — The Turbo distinguishes itself by being pushed to very high peat levels: the 2025 edition is stated at 72 PPM (parts per million) phenols, compared to around 35 PPM for the standard Meikle Tòir expressions.
Selective “heart of the heart” spirit cut — The distillery takes the cut of the spirit run that has the highest phenolic content (“the heart of the heart”) for this edition, capturing the most intense peated character.
Limited production & small‑batch nature — The peated run at GlenAllachie is small: only about six weeks per year of production for the peated spirit, yielding roughly 100,000 litres of alcohol annually (around a tenth of the distillery’s output). This makes the Turbo batches relatively rare.
Distinct maturation regime — For Turbo editions, maturation includes a combination of virgin American oak casks and Oloroso sherry hogsheads (or similar premium oak casks) that deepen the flavour and integrate with the intense peat. For example, the 2024 edition used five American virgin oak casks + four Oloroso hogsheads.
Production details emphasise craft — The distillery uses mainland peat from St Fergus (rather than the usual Islay/Island peat), which gives a different smoke character (sweeter, oak‑smoke style) and the fermentation is extended (~160 hours) to build more complexity.
Non‑chill filtered, natural colour — The Turbo editions maintain premium quality cues: no added colouring, non‑chill filtered, which means the flavour and character are preserved closer to how they matured.
