This VSOP Millennium from Chateau de Montifaud is an elegant Cognac from the prized Petite Champagne cru. Carefully aged and crafted to express the finesse of its terroir, this bottling offers a harmonious balance of richness and refinement.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Aromas of orchard fruit, ripe pear, and subtle floral notes, followed by gentle hints of spice and toasted oak.

Palate: Smooth and balanced, with layers of caramel, dried fruits, and warm vanilla.

Finish: Long and refined, with lingering notes of honeyed oak and spice.

Cognac is an alcoholic spirit of 40% ABV or higher, obtained by distilling white wine.

In order to be called Cognac, the spirit must meet several requirements:

• Specific grape varieties must be used.
• It must be double distilled.
• The spirit must be aged for at least two and a half years in wooden casks.
• The alcohol content must be at least 40% ABV.
• It must originate from the Cognac region.
• The production area surrounds the French town of Cognac and covers the departments of Charente and Charente-Maritime (Nouvelle-Aquitaine region).

Only nine grape varieties are permitted for production:
Ugni Blanc, Colombard, Folle Blanche, Jurançon Blanc, Meslier Saint-François, Montils, Sélèct, Follignan, and Sémillon. The vast majority of grapes used (around 90%) is Ugni Blanc, locally also referred to as Saint-Émilion.

By law, the exact age of the Cognac may not be stated on the bottle. Instead, an age designation is used. The most well-known are:

• V.S. or *** (three stars): minimum aging of two and a half years
  (V.S. stands for Very Special or Very Superior)
• V.S.O.P., V.O., or Réserve: minimum aging of four and a half years
  (V.S.O.P. stands for Very Superior Old Pale or Very Special Old Pale; V.O. stands for Very Old)
• Extra, X.O., Napoléon, Hors d’Âge, or Ancestrale: minimum aging of six and a half years
  (X.O. stands for Exceptionally Old)
