Barbados WIRD 25 Years Old [The Many Faces of Rum / The Whisky Jury] Distilled 06/2000 - Bottled 05/2026 - Matured in a Refill Barrel #53 - 136 btl. - 50.4% abv.
We’ve never been big on the Bajan style of rum. It’s often too coconutty and has difficulty leaving the fruit intact compared to some of the other styles. This Rockley style rum, based on make from the legendary still of the same name, is very much a different breed however. It has a concentration and that slight vanilla sweetness that you know and love in Barbados rum but leaves plenty of room for layers of fruit, some Guyana-esque black tea notes and just overall nuance. The flavours are extremely balanced and the natural 50.4% abv leaves breathing room for the palate to grasp all of them, without giving up any length. Our second Barbados ever and we are very happy we found it! Unfortunately, only 136 bottles came out of the cask. We feel we’ll need to have a serious chat with the angels about their recent behaviour.
